The Patriot Pedalers Riding Team is sponsored by Patriot Hospice headquartered in Greenville with offices in Greenville, Walterboro and Conway SC. Jill Birmingham, CEO at Pariot Hospice participated in the very first Ride To Remember, and every ride since. She has been the lead bus driver for each ride and also provided additional volunteer support to the ride. She has continued to supply and drive the lead bus. but also rode several sections of Day 2 & 3 last year. She is hoping to do more mileage in 2018. The Patriot Hospice support for the ride is similar to the goals established for the company, which are to provide the highest quality, timely and caring support to the riders. Alzheimers's is one of the leading causes for death in the hospice community. Patriot Hospice is dedicated to assisiting in any way to eradicate this dreaded disease. Jill has also made this a family affair as her father, brother and cousins have ridden in the past. Her mom, daughters, son and husband have all contributed in the past as well as volunteers.
We are planning on riders from Georgia, Texas, New York, Illinois and Virginia with a strong Upstate presence. As shown in our team photo, last years team was comprised of 24 riders and 16 volunteers. Our goal is to have approximatley 20 riders this year. We were very proud of the fact that the team raised the second most money, $55,786, for the Alzheimers Association last year. The goal for 2018 is $15,000. We have riders of all levels - our younger riders tend to be very fast and generally finish near the front of the pack; a large number of us are 15-16 mph folks and ride as a pack; however, in 2017 we had several riders start with the whole group and ride as fas as they could and then meet the Patriot main pack at the final rest stop and finsh with them. We are riders of all abilities with the desire to finish one day or all 3 days of the ride.
We wish you great cycling.
We have had a great recruiting year with 20+ riders signed to ride this year, so our team roster is frozen for 2018.
Thanks to all of our great riders signed for the 2018 RTR
