Why Care About Alzheimer's Disease?
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
Team Ruppe is hosting the halfway point water stop for the 40 mile event at our home again this year, in honor of our mother/grandmother/friend in Gloria Ruppe, who suffered with Alzheimer's disease for 7 years. Gloria had a similar motto as Kristine's dad - "Just Do It!". When Mom started to be affected by Alzheimer's, my wife Lynn asked Mom what it was like living with Alzheimer's? Mom responded, "When you find you can't do the things you loved to do, you find new things to love and "Just Do It!"
Her courage and perseverance reminds us daily to make a difference. Find something you love to do and do it in honor or memory of the special people in your life!
Every rider, dollar and hour we invest in this event makes a difference. Kristine & her family, crew and associates have raised almost $250,000 since 2005 toward Alzheimer's research! Please consider joining ‘Team Ruppe’ as a rider, sponsor a rider or donate toward Alzheimer’s research.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!
