Her Fight is My Fight <3
Alzheimer's is a terrible, destructive disease that has robbed the lives of too many people; included are my great-grandmother, grandfather, and dear family friends. Now, we know my grandmother is in this fight, too, and we stand beside her with all the love and support and care we can give. Sadly, it's not enough. Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer's research- only dollars. By participating in the 2019 Ride to End Alzheimer's on June 22, 2019, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.
I LOVE riding my bike: for commuting, shopping trips, and going places that allow me to avoid the madness of driving a car in Boston...active transportation is a cornerstone of my personal commitment to live in a healthy, sustainable, and self-sufficient way. But this year, I'm also riding my bike to fight back; her fight is my fight - it's our fight - for the 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer's, their 16 million caregivers, and millions more who have lost a loved one to this disease.
To do this, I've committed to riding 100 miles in one day! If you would like to support my efforts please consider making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and their ground breaking momentum in the field of Alzheimer's research. 90% of the funds raised go toward the Association's efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer's and other dementias.
Support comes in all forms, so if you'd like to leave a few words or share your experiences, please do - I will carry them with me through this journey and especially on my first century ride on June 22. Help me bike to beat Alzheimer's!
