Dear Family, Friends and Clients,
Two years ago I started to make goals for myself that took me out of my comfort zone - the challenge of a new experience or something new to learn. One of the goals I set for myself and accomplished was to participate in a triathlon (swim/bike/run). I participated and completed my first Olympic Triathlon May 2011 in Austin, TX. Since then I have raced in 6 different triathlons including a Half Ironman with Lance Armstrong.
August 25th and 26th I'm participating in another triathlon but this one is going to be a bit different. I'll be doing what is called the Triple Challenge. The Triple Challenge is 3 races in 2 days. Day one is a Super sprint and Day 2 is a Sprint immediately followed by an Olympic. In 2 days I will have raced a total of 68 miles. Call me crazy but I'm really looking forward to this race - specifically because this race will have a special meaning and purpose.
In this Triple Challenge race, I'll be swimming, biking and running on behalf of my Grandpa Harold. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a few years ago and passed away one year ago, July 6, 2011. Grandpa Harold was a great encourager and friend to all. He lived for others. He was always helping someone - his selfless service was amazing.
So, in following his example of loving and serving others, I've chosen to dedicate this race to him and all others affected and afflicted by this horrible disease and I'm creating my own charitable event.
Please be my partner in this event and join me in making a difference against Alzheimer's. My goal is to raise or exceed $3,400 for this event.
In every race I tell myself 'Every Mile Smile'. In this race, my grin will be a little bigger and mean a bit more if we can reach this goal together. I know it may not seem like much - but for me and my Grandpa (now in Heaven) this is huge.
Let's work together to find a solution to end Alzheimer's sooner rather than later.
Every Mile Smile - for Grandpa Harold and others,
I'm going the distance with the Alzheimer's Association ALZ StarsŪ, a program to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Association.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research to discover methods of prevention, treatment and ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you in advance for your generosity - together, we can outrace Alzheimer's disease.
