Frequently asked questions

How do I form a team? Forming a team is easy. From the homepage of the event, click "Register." If you're a new participant, click "Start a Team." You will automatically become the team captain for your team. Then, ask friends, family and coworkers to join your team and the fight against Alzheimer’s. If you are a returning participant, log in with your username and password, then choose to start a team.

What responsibilities does a team captain have? Team captains are the heart of our events. As a team captain, you recruit your team from family, friends and coworkers, help them fundraise, keep them motivated and have fun fighting for a great cause. You will also have access to a team fundraising web page and numerous tools to make your team a success.

What is a Hero? Someone who jumps into icy water by reaching a minimum fundraising commitment of $200. Recruits Sidekicks to help meet their goal. Gets to jump in the water based on how much money their team raises (the jump order is determined by the amount of money raised by the Hero). Eligible for fundraising incentives.

What is a Sidekick? Someone who is interested in being involved without getting wet. Raises funds to benefit selected Hero's goal and help determine jump lineup. Recruits other Sidekick(s) -- the more the merrier to help your Heroes. Eligible for fundraising incentives.

How do I start fundraising? The best fundraising efforts start by sharing your personal story about why you're participating in this event. You can do this on your personal fundraising page by logging in to your participant center. Once your page is updated, share it with friends, family and coworkers via email, social networking and word of mouth.

Where does the money go?
The funds raised through this event benefit the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. See this page for more information on our fundraising standards.

How is the money collected? Submitting donations to the Alzheimer’s Association is quick and easy. Donations can be made online, by mailing checks or money or hand-delivering cash, checks or money orders to your local chapter office.
