The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with us!
Gene and I are power-walking the 1/2 marathon again this year in honor of good health and also in honor of my Dad, Bob Gillon, who suffered a stroke nearly 4 years ago. He is doing well and always keeps a great attitude, but the stroke has definitely changed his life forever.
I am now healthy after two summers of surgeries, I had surgery for breast cancer in July 2010 and had yet another surgery last summer for what was thought to be ovarian cancer. It turned out not to be ovarian cancer, thank goodness! It has become apparent to me over the past two years how important it is, as we age, to eat right and exercise to stay at the top of our game of health. With this, we can make a difference in our health and fight off most things!
So that is why we we are going the distance with the Alzheimer's Association ALZ Stars®, a program to advance the care and support for people suffering from all types of dementia, even stroke dementia like my Dad has.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help me support the efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. For the millions already affected by dementia, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you in advance for your generosity, together, we can make a difference in this fight!
