It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Larry Cannon. He went peacefully while surrounded by his family. He was 82 years old.

As many of you know, Larry was a fixture on Boston Harbor and the Boston waterfront for decades. A lifelong avid sailor, he joined the Boston Harbor Pilots association at the young age of 20 as an apprentice. For years he sailed out to meet ships and guide them safely into the port of Boston. He also carried on the family business of the Boston Waterboat, delivering potable water from Long Wharf to ships while anchored or docked. When fresh water became readily available to ships in port, Larry saw an opportunity to change directions, and started Boston Waterboat Marina in a small footprint of its current location. His hard work, dedication, vision, and genuine care for the happiness of others helped form the
Waterboat Marina we know and love. Over the years he expanded and grew the business into what it is today. He fostered
an environment where old friends returned to reconnect, a place where new friendships were forged, and where all were
welcome.

So, this is how we choose to remember Larry. The smiling friendly face always ready on the dock, helping catch your lines, quick with a joke to lighten the mood. The friend to everyone, who would welcome you to come tie up your boat, big or small, pour yourself an ice cold Dark and Stormy, reconnect with old friends and make new ones. Always willing to help out if he could, or at the very least provide a quick, witty remark to get a chuckle out of you.

He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
