Looking Back Forward

Looking back at 2012 some may recall a year of heated political rhetoric, partisan posturing and legislative gridlock.  But as Alzheimer’s advocates you did your part to keep support for action on Alzheimer's disease a bipartisan cause.

This year we saw the introduction of a new National Alzheimer’s Plan and the dedication of an additional $50 million to fund Alzheimer's research. However, with more than 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, additional resources are needed now to confront this devastating disease.

Earlier this year the President submitted a budget request for $80 million in additional research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the 2013 fiscal year budget. As NIH readies its budget for the coming year, please contact the Director of the NIH to urge prioritization of funding for Alzheimer's disease research. This critical commitment will go a long way toward raising the profile of Alzheimer’s disease in the medical research community.

A Challenge

Year End Match-JBO

A generous benefactor and strong advocate for the fight against Alzheimer's disease, Jane Bindle Oi, has offered to give $35,000 to the Alzheimer's Association if we raise this same amount through an online campaign by the end of the year. "The Alzheimer's Association changed the end of my dad's life from a foggy, sedated existence to smiles and the ability to connect with others," Jane explained. "I support the Association out of gratitude for what the organization did for him and for my family."

Jane’s generous gift will be used to support public policy initiatives related to Alzheimer's - but we need YOUR support before December 31 to receive the matching amount.
