John B. Hightower Tribute Climb
 February 22 to 28

Hightower Tribute Climb

Brian Cole will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise money for research.

Brian Cole

John B. Hightower has been a client of Brian Cole (pictured at left), owner of Personal Training Associates in Newport News, for the last 10 years. As a way to honor his friend who is affected by Alzheimer's disease, Cole has decided to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro on February 22 to 28 to increase awareness and to raise funds for Alzheimer’s research. “Alzheimer’s places tremendous burdens on the families and caregivers and is the only cause of death among the top 10 without a way to prevent, predict, cure or even slow its progression. Research will change that,” states Cole.
See Brian's Interview on WVEC 13's Noon News and a video on why he is climbing

Find out how you can support Cole's efforts and follow his journey!

February is Black History Month

Goldie ByrdDuring February, Black History Month, the Alzheimer's Association sat down for a one-on-one talk with Dr. Goldie Byrd, an African-American scientist who has spent more than a decade researching the genetics of Alzheimer's disease. Early in her career, Dr. Byrd recognized the impact of studying the nature of Alzheimer’s disease on a genomic level. Learn more about her thoughts on her observations and her motivations for continuing her research.
