August – Community resources available
A diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias often creates more questions than answers and those affected can have a need for face to face help and support. As of today, the Alzheimer's Association reaches millions of people affected by Alzheimer's across the globe through our national office and more than 75 local chapters. The chapters offer support for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and their families through programs and services including education workshops, support groups, care consultation and volunteer opportunities.  Please pass on this stock article for additional information about chapters in your area.

Please plan ahead for these upcoming initiatives.

September – Do a Little Big Thing
In September, the Alzheimer's Association encourages those in the workplace to "Do a Little Big Thing" in the fight against Alzheimer's and other dementias. Small actions such as hosting a fundraising event and encouraging employees to dress down in exchange for a small donation can make a big difference. Or work with your local Alzheimer's Association chapter to host an educational session or support group at the office. Share this list of activities with your employees for more ideas on how to make an impact this month.

October – National Hispanic Heritage Month
During the month of October, the Alzheimer's Association asks for your help in recognizing National Hispanic Heritage Month*. The overall impact of Alzheimer's disease amongst the Latino community is statistically more widespread than in the white communities. They face increased risk of an Alzheimer's disease diagnosis due to higher rates of cardiovascular disease and higher stress levels in a caregiving role. Education, awareness and communication is vital to help those affected by this disease. Please take a moment and share this important article with all of your employees, featuring links to available tools, resources and brochures in both English and Spanish.

*Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. - //hispanicheritagemonth.gov/
