What you need to know about at-home genetic testing
|
Perhaps your grandmother had Alzheimer’s, or maybe your mom or dad is currently living with the disease. You may be concerned that you’re seeing signs of the disease in yourself. It’s natural to be curious if a genetic test is valuable in predicting the likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s. Keith Fargo, Ph.D., Alzheimer’s Association director of Scientific Programs and Outreach, answers questions about this type of testing and what the results tell (and don’t tell) you.

Hernandez discusses how to advocate for people living with Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s Association Celebrity Champion Liz Hernandez, a correspondent for NBC’s “Access Hollywood,” received the Young Advocate Award at the recent 2017 Alzheimer’s Association Advocacy Forum. Hernandez became an advocate after her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s two years ago. Though initially reluctant to talk about what was happening in her family, she realized it was important to speak out.
