September is World Alzheimer's Month

World Alzheimer's Month

September is World Alzheimer's Month. We need your help to increase awareness, especially on Alzheimer's Action Day (September 21st).
  • Wear Purple! Encourage everyone in your office and your family and friends to wear purple on Alzheimer's Action Day (September 21) and email the picture to us at infoseva@alz.org so we can post it in an album. View pictures from last year!
  • Social Media. On September 21st, change your main picture on social media sites to:
Facebook WAM Picture (right click this image and click save as)
  • View this Flyer for more ideas for your company or organization.
  • The Alzheimer's Association is conducting two celebrity auctions on eBay to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's disease. Prizes include an autographed Glen Campbell guitar and tickets to Alzheimer's Association 2nd Annual Hilarity for Charity and a meet & greet with event host Seth Rogen! All proceeds from the auctions will support Alzheimer's care, research and support. Auction starts TODAY until the 27th!
  • Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI) will release its world report on Alzheimer's Action Day. This year's report will be focused on the stigma associated with Alzheimer's. Share our tips on how to reduce stigma.
  • Watch Celebrity Week on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Association! Mo’Nique, Cheech Marin, Paula Deen, Jackée and “Dancing with the Stars” professional Tony Dovolani each play an exciting game for the cause. “My dad passed away from Alzheimer’s and my brother Steve developed early onset Alzheimer’s, so it’s a very personal issue to me,” said "Millionaire" host Meredith Vieira.

The Alzheimer's Association applauds the passage of H.R. 2800, The Missing Alzheimer's Disease Patient Alert Program Reauthorization Act introduced by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.). The measure, passed in the House of Representatives, expands important programs that improve the safety of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. This legislation reauthorizes a Department of Justice Program that allows local law enforcement officials to quickly identify wandering dementia patients and reunite them with their families.
