Financially challenged seniors may have an increased risk of developing dementia
Poverty later in life may be associated with an increased risk of dementia, new research suggests. According to the researchers, many factors could be involved in the study's findings. For example, financial status may be a stand-in for a poorly managed diet and unhealthy lifestyle, both of which are linked to increased risk for dementia. Access to good health care and making healthy lifestyle decisions may have a significant impact on dementia risk.

Nutritious meals may be a challenge for people living with Alzheimer's
As a person's cognitive function declines, he or she may become overwhelmed with too many food choices, forget to eat or have difficulty using utensils. Proper nutrition is important to keep the body strong and healthy. For a person living with Alzheimer's or another dementia, poor nutrition may increase behavioral symptoms and cause weight loss.
