Day for Caregivers

Join us for this exciting event on September 10! Dr. Hamid Okhravi of Eastern Virginia Medical School will give the keynote address on the latest in research. Other presentations include "Three Old People on a Bench", an interactive program that provides a window into the world of an individual with dementia and "Building a Communication Bridge", a program that uses video and role-playing to increase your capacity to connect with and reduce anxiety in someone with dementia. This seminar is for both family caregivers and professionals. Professionals will receive a certificate of hours attended. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us! Call Sherry Warren at 800.272.3900 or email sherry.warren@alz.org. Hope to see you there!

Cookbook Friendraiser
How would you feel if your traditional family recipes were lost forever? Most likely awful! When Barbara Magro heard the diagnosis of her mother’s disease in 2006 and witnessed her mother’s decline, she set out to preserve her family recipes that were at the heart of her upbringing. Recipes to Remember - My Epicurean Journey to Preserve my Mother’s Italian Cooking from Memory Loss is the result. As seen in the Wall Street Journal, Daytime TV and WPLG 10 Miami. To purchase a book for $30, please call us at 757.459.2405. $5 from each book sold through our office will be donated to our chapter. Please make checks payable to Barbara Magro and send to Alzheimer's Association, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
