Join the cause

The Alzheimer’s Association, Western New York Chapter invites you to become an Alzheimer's advocate! Join us and speak up for the needs and rights of people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families.

Act Now

The Alzheimer's Impact Movement (AIM) is the Alzheimer's Association's sister organization. AIM made Alzheimer’s a rising issue in the 2016 election by engaging with every presidential candidate and helping several of them develop and promote bold Alzheimer’s platforms. Alzheimer's has never been discussed by candidates as much as it was in 2016 and it wouldn’t have happened without AIM. As a 501c3 non-profit, the Alzheimer’s Association was not permitted even to comment on the candidates’ proposals, but AIM was and did  so in stories by USA Today and other major outlets. Upcoming events

Advocates meet with legislators in their home offices and make yearly trips to Albany, NY and Washington, D.C. If you would like to join us for district meetings this summer, please let us know!

What is an advocate?

Alzheimer's advocates play an important role in improving the quality of care and quality of life for people with dementia and their families. Advocates voice the need for community-based services, disease awareness, and funding for research.

See how advocates have already made a difference!

As an advocate, you will:

  • Receive regular updates about current legislative and public policy issues.
  • Be called on to take action through emailed alerts.
  • Contact or visit your legislators to share your story and ask for their support.

New York advocacy

  • The New York State Coalition of Alzheimer's Association Chapters is the leader in supporting individuals, caregivers, and families faced with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Visit us on Facebook, Twitter @NYSAlzCoalition, or contact Rachel Rotach at rrotach@alz.org for more on how you can get involved.

Federal advocacy

  • Federal Policy Priorities - Policymakers must enact public policies that provide better health and long-term coverage to ensure high-quality, cost-effective care for the millions of people who face this disease every day.
  • Advocacy Basics - Watch short videos on the issues and legislation we support.
