Alz Patients Prayer and Wish for the Same Things We Do

I was working in an Assisted Living Facility with a Memory Care Unit as a programs specialist, I decided to start another holiday activity (we had them daily in December) this one was to provoke their thoughts as to what they might like for the holidays that money couldn't buy them, we were as planned writing them all down to compose a letter to God with those wishes. Much to my surprise they all wanted the same things you or I would request, no more people going hungry, help for homeless people, peace on earth, no more pain or sadness, no more orphans, love and kindness for humanity, there were no selfish wishes or prayers in our group. But love, goodwill, and caring. So the next time you're wondering what your Alzheimer's loved one may be thinking about, remember this story, a part of them is still there and cares about others. I still have and cherish the letter today.
