Spending time alone with Daddy

For for the first five years of my life I was an only child and my father would take me to the Bronx Zoo or the circus at Madison Square Garden. But, the most special time of the year was Thanksgiving day when he and I went to the Macy's Thanksgiving parade. I would have to sit on his shoulders to see some of the parade passing by. My brother and sister came along five and seven years later and my mother stayed at home with them and Daddy and I kept on going to our special places alone. I'm not certain my siblings ever got to come along. Years later I realized that my mother was not at home popping bon bons rather she was preparing Thanksgiving dinner for twenty or thirty people while tending to two little ones. I do remember coming home to our apartment and inhaling the turkey aroma. I will always remember those special times with Daddy who passed away 14 years ago from the effects of Alzheimers.
