Holiday Memory:
My holiday memory is actually one that happened when I was pretty little-but it became the family tradition to retell it every single year. When I was about 8 years old, I set to work one snowstorm to build a huge snowman. I wouldn't let anyone help, including my little sister. So, instead of helping, she built a small one by herself and put it right next to mine. Being young (and having our sibling rivalry in full swing) I quickly stomped her little snowman to the ground to make sure mine had center stage in the lawn. Just as quickly, my mom reminded me how lucky I was to have a little sister who loved and admired me enough to want to do what I did.
I rebuilt her snowman next to mine and try to remember that lesson I learned. Even though we laugh every Christmas about my monstrous destruction of mini-snowman, I always take with me the lesson of being a better person-someone that others might want to be like. It also reminds me to be incredibly grateful for the family, and specifically-the sister, I am blessed with-that we can relive these memories every holiday season.
