Thanksgivings of the pass with my sister

Memories of earlier Thanksgivings

Thanksgivings of the pass years were so great for my family and I, we lived in South Haven, Michigan on the lake in a five bedroom older home and I would decorate for Christmas before the big Thanksgiving day would arrive. My sister and husband with five children would drive from Bellieve, Michigan which was a two hour drive and they would bring Mom and StepDad, no matter how much snow we had they always made it. My brother-in-law and wife would drive down from Grand Haven, Michigan and we would have a big family get together of at least of 18 people sometimes more. I would cook the main items and my one and only sister would always do the baking from scatch yum yum, when she arrived we would start out with deserts to snack on before the dinner, it was always the greatest holidays back then. Now Sister who is 72 years old has Alzheimer's and in the sixth stage, memories are not there anymore to remember together but I can still remember for the both of us, I miss these wonderful family traditions and wish they could still be, but only I can remember these thoughts and be there for her. My sister is ten years older then me and helped Mom to raise me and was always there for me with all problems of life, I hope somewhere in her mind she still knows I love her so very much. She dosen't always know who I'm until I hug her and tell her Hi sis, then she seems to come around to me and smiles. Alzhimers is a awful awful disease and I feel for anyone that has a love one with this disease. Lets pray that they find out what causes this memory robbing disease and find a cure for it. Happy Holidays to all and stay strong.
