A Very Ramsey Christmas

I grew up away from my grandparents. They lived in Utah, so we didn't always get to spend the holidays with them. Every once in a while, however, they would make the "big trek back East" as they called it. They would hitch their 5th wheel trailer to the back of their van and drive cross country to Pennsylvania - often they would come for the holidays and stay for the better part of the winter.

To limit the stress on my mom, they would set up their trailer and live in that while they were here. I remember visiting them in the mornings before school, and during Christmas break. My grandmother would always have something hot to drink and some of her famous cinnamon rolls that she would make just for me. Sometimes my grandfather and I would play a game of War before he took us to the end of our driveway to wait for the school bus.

It was always so special when they came for the holidays as usually it was just my mom & dad, brother, and I. We always had fun as a family unit, but I loved it when my grandparents were there. They brought an unknown element of extended family, and let's not forget Grammy's cooking! I can still feel the love and happiness of those visits 15 years later.

It is these memories I treasure as I look at my grandmother today. She is amazing and her heart and soul are treasured always.
