WHAT YOUR WALK TO END ALZHEIMER'S DONATION SUPPORTS

Care, Support and Research Services

79% Alzheimer’s Care, Support, Research and Advocacy | 15% Fundraising | 6% Administrative

Walk to End Alzheimer’s raises money for our care, support and research services available to the more than 27,000 Mainers living with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia and the 69,000 caregivers providing unpaid care. Care and support services include family care consultations, information and referral, crisis support, safety services, support groups, care planning and emotional support.

Our educational programs -- ranging from basic to multi-part in-depth sessions -- offer comprehensive strategies for families and individuals facing Alzheimer's, as well as community members and healthcare professionals. The Early-Stage Social Programs offer meaningful activity in friendly, supportive environments for those diagnosed with dementia and their care partners.

Our advocacy work is instrumental in keeping Alzheimer’s care and research a top priority at every level of government and offers great hope to change the trajectory of the disease. Volunteer advocates work to ensure policymakers are addressing vital issues such as dementia training, access to respite care, long-term care services, Medicaid spending, funding for research and many other policies related to supporting those affected by dementia.

BOLD_Act.jpgSENATOR COLLINS INTRODUCES ALZHEIMER'S INFRASTRUCTURE ACT

Building Our Largest Dementia Infrastructure Act (BOLD)

Senator Susan Collins introduced the bipartisan BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act to improve our nation’s Alzheimer’s public health infrastructure last month. Senator Collins explains, “After decades of expanding biomedical research in Alzheimer’s, we are ready for the next step: to translate research into practice. I urge my colleagues to join us as cosponsors of this critical bipartisan legislation."

The BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act (S. 2076/H.R.4256) would establish Alzheimer's Centers of Excellence in communities around the country to expand and promote the evidence base for effective Alzheimer's interventions, and issue funding to public health departments to increase early detection and diagnosis, reduce risk, prevent avoidable hospitalizations and support the needs of caregivers. Tell Senator King and Representatives Poliquin or Pingree to support this vital legislation by taking action below.
