Make your plans to join us us on AUGUST 29th, 9:30 am for a Town Hall Meeting with representatives from Congressman Fleischmann's and Senator Corker's offices. We'll be asking for support of increased funding and legislation in the fight to END ALZ!

 Event details: August 29, 2017. Advocacy Town Hall. The Office of Congressman Chuck Fleischmann. Chattanooga, TN. Please join us for a Town Hall meeting with staff from the offices of Congressman Chuck Fleischmann and Senator Bob Corker. We'll share our stories and ask for support for funding and legislation to help END ALZ and provide the care and support needed for all affected. This event is by reservation only. All programs are FREE and can be customized to meet your needs!  Topics include: Basics of Alzheimer's, Know the 10 Warning Signs, Brain Health, Effective Communication, Managing Difficult Behaviors, and Legal and Financial Matters. Contact Amy French at afrench@alz.org for more information.

The Alzheimer’s Association offers support groups for caregivers caring for loved ones with dementia in a variety of locations and times.  To find the group best suited for you go to this link:

EARLY STAGE SUPPORT GROUP
Living With Alzheimer's:  Early-Stage Support Group
A Program for Peers Living in the Early Stages of Alzheimer's disease and Their Care Partners
1st and 3rd Tuesday each month

This program is designed exclusively for those in the early stage of the disease and their care partners.  Eligibility requirements must be met. CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW ENROLLEES!  For more information or to register, call 423-265-3600.

10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Looking for a place you and your loved one with dementia can go TOGETHER for socialization, fun, and fellowship?  Alzheimer's can be a very socially-isolating disease for all involved; yet, social involvement is one of the best ways to provide positive stimulation and interaction for those with dementia.  This program uses music and memory to create a fun, easy-going, social time!  Join us the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month for singing, laughter, and treats! This program is appropriate for folks in most stages of dementia. Contact Wayne Evans at w_evans3@comcast.net or call 423-892-9363 for more information.

"First Tuesday Fellowship"*
 A ministry of Falling Water Cumberland Presbyterian Church
First Tuesday each month, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

This social program is for individuals with dementia and their caregivers. Hymn singing, games, and lunch provided. (There is no charge for this program). For more information contact Diana Walters at 423-870-3864, or dianalwalters@comcast.net

Virtual Dementia Tour

This highly respected and highly effective training tool is an excellent learning opportunity for both family members and professionals who provide care for those affected by dementia.  It's an opportunity to 'walk a mile in their shoes' and experience first hand the challenges they face.  The tour takes about 30 minutes. Reservations are required, so call now to be sure and reserve your spot.  This learning opportunity is brought to you by SENIOR HELPERS. 

Interested in bringing the VIRTUAL DEMENTIA TOUR to your workplace, church, or community?  This program is highly recommended as an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in understanding this disease.  Senior Helpers provides this training at no charge as a service to the community.  For information contact Paula Hensel at 423-710-1500.

Trial Match

Trial Match is an Alzheimer's Association free matching service for healthy volunteers and those with the disease. Get matched with pharmacological and non-pharmacological studies in your area. We know that finding a cure greatly depends on participants for these types of studies. Some studies may even compensate the caregiver and person with dementia. If you have started a profile, please ensure that it is completed so that you may be matched.
