KNOW THE 10 SIGNS: EARLY DETECTION MATTERS

The warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease are often dismissed as side effects of normal aging. If you or someone you know is experiencing memory loss or behavioral changes, it’s time to learn the facts. Early detection gives you a chance to begin drug therapy, enroll in clinical studies and plan ahead.

The Alzheimer’s Association offers a one-hour Know the 10 Signs workshop that is designed to provide the public with a greater understanding of the difference between age-related memory loss and dementia and what to do if they have signs of Alzheimer’s disease.

HEART TO ART PROGRAM LAUNCHES IN KITTERY

New Art Partnership Added to Early Stage Social Programs

This pilot program combines the creative energies of persons living with dementia and third grade students to plan and create art projects together.

The weekly sessions take place during the month of March at Kittery Estates and are the result of a partnership between the Alzheimer’s Association, Kittery Estates, and the Horace Mitchell School.

Early stage social programs are specifically designed for those diagnosed with dementia and focus on building strength, balance, and mobility in a friendly, supportive environment. Screening may be required to determine if the program is appropriate for potential participants. Registration is limited to eight couples for each program and early registration is highly recommended.
