'Good' cholesterol in the brain may protect against Alzheimer’s
Elevated levels of high-density lipoproteins (HDL) — often called "good" cholesterol — in the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord may offer protection against Alzheimer’s, new research suggests. Study results published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia®: The Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association indicate that small HDL particles could point the way to treatments for the disease before cognitive decline occurs.
