Facts and Figures examines challenges around mild cognitive impairment
The new Alzheimer’s Association 2022 Alzheimer's Disease Facts and Figures report provides an in-depth look at the latest national and state-by-state statistics on Alzheimer’s disease prevalence, mortality, caregiving and costs of care. This year’s edition includes a special report examining the challenges that physicians and the American public face in understanding and diagnosing mild cognitive impairment, which is characterized by subtle changes in memory and thinking.

Alzheimer’s and dementia research funding increase becomes law
A $289 million increase for Alzheimer’s and dementia research funding at the National Institutes of Health has been signed into law, bringing the annual total to as much as $3.5 billion. In addition, the Alzheimer’s Association and the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM), a separately incorporated advocacy affiliate, secured $25 million to implement the BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act.
