Couple navigates Alzheimer’s together

High heart rate linked to dementia risk
A study published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia®: The Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association found that a high resting heart rate in older adults was associated with a greater risk of dementia. Followed for up to 12 years, study participants with a resting heart rate of 80 beats or more per minute had an average 55% higher risk of dementia than those with a heart rate of 60 to 69 beats per minute. The study doesn’t show causation, but the results add to evidence that a relationship exists between heart health and brain health as we age.
