Women ride 100 miles for Alzheimer’s research and awareness
Last year, Cathy Harm and her friend Laura rode 100 miles in the Ride to End ALZ®, a cycling event that raises funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s research. Their efforts were in honor of Cathy’s mother, who died from complications of Alzheimer’s, and Laura’s mother, who’s living with the disease. This year, the friends are committed to riding again: “Being part of Ride to End ALZ allows me to take action and to fulfill my personal commitment to do all I can in the fight against this disease,” Cathy says.

Collins announces departure from National Institutes of Health
The Alzheimer’s Association and the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement are immensely grateful for Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D., who announced his decision to step down as director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). During his tenure, Alzheimer’s and dementia research funding at the NIH grew from less than $450 million to $3.2 billion.
