Mediterranean diet may help lower dementia risk
The Mediterranean diet, rich in vegetables, fruits, olive oil and fish, may help protect the brain from plaque buildup and shrinkage, a new study suggests. Researchers note that the results contribute to the body of evidence that links healthy eating habits with brain health and cognitive performance in old age. Heather Snyder, Ph.D., Alzheimer’s Association vice president of Medical and Scientific Relations, says, “What we know is what's good for your heart is good for your brain, so eat a balanced diet but also get active, get moving and stay engaged.”

Siblings to honor their relatives on The Longest Day
Rachel Radspinner and Matthew Zuraw hosted sunrise and sunset events on the beach from their respective coasts on The Longest Day® in 2019 to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Association care, support and research efforts. This year, the siblings will continue their efforts on June 20 in honor of their maternal grandmother and on behalf of their father, John, who is living with Alzheimer’s.
