Air pollution may increase dementia risk
The air people breathe could increase the risk of dementia, new research suggests. A large, 17-year study found that air pollution was significantly associated with a higher risk of hospital admissions for Alzheimer’s and other dementias, as well as Parkinson’s. The researchers said current U.S. Environmental Protection Agency air-quality standards should be improved to better protect older Americans.
