Anxiety an additional challenge for those facing Alzheimer's
Approximately 80 percent of people living with dementia will experience agitation and anxiety. Identifying triggers, such as a change in schedule or physical discomfort, can be helpful for caregivers. Playing the person's favorite music or using other techniques to shift their attention can also help.

Almost two-thirds of Americans with Alzheimer's are women
Researchers are investigating why Alzheimer's disease affects more women than men, and why it progresses more quickly in women's brains. The answer likely lies in social, biological and genetic differences. One study looked at the protein tau, a hallmark of Alzheimer's, and found that being female impacted how it spread in the brain.
