Blood test may be able to help detect Alzheimer's
A new study shows that a blood test may be able to detect changes in the brain related to memory loss and cognitive decline. Researchers were able to measure levels of beta-amyloid, a protein associated with Alzheimer's, in the blood and use those levels to predict whether the protein has accumulated in the brain. The results are preliminary, and no such test is currently available.

Researcher studies how stress and social factors impact cognitive decline
As an undergraduate student studying neurobiology, researcher Megan Zuelsdorff, Ph.D., became interested in how stress causes harm to the body. Funded in part by the Alzheimer's Association, Zuelsdorff's research has expanded into how social environments impact Alzheimer's risk in diverse populations.

Nutritious meals may be a challenge for people living with Alzheimer's
As a person's cognitive function declines, he or she may become overwhelmed with too many food choices, forget to eat or have difficulty using utensils. For a person living with Alzheimer's or another dementia, poor nutrition may increase behavioral symptoms and cause weight loss.
