Adopting multiple healthy lifestyle factors may reduce dementia risk
More than 5,900 of the brightest minds in dementia research from around the world are meeting in Los Angeles for the Alzheimer's Association International Conference® 2019 (AAIC®) to discuss the latest scientific advancements and theories. Research from AAIC suggests that combining several healthy lifestyle factors may help reduce the chance of developing dementia, even in people with high genetic risk.

Women in paid workforce may experience slower memory loss
Having a paying job might shield women from late-life memory loss, according to research presented at AAIC. The researchers said policies that offer women more opportunity to enter the paid workforce may support public health efforts to reduce cognitive decline and dementia risk.

Advances reported in blood test technologies for Alzheimer's
Significant advances in the global search for blood test technologies for Alzheimer's and other dementias were reported at AAIC. Currently, brain changes that occur before Alzheimer's symptoms appear can only be reliably assessed by brain scans and spinal fluid tests. The Alzheimer's Association strongly supports efforts to discover more readily accessible tools for early detection and diagnosis.
