"What They Had" writer-director discusses Alzheimer's-inspired film
Writer-director Elizabeth Chomko's new film, "What They Had," starring Hilary Swank, Blythe Danner and Michael Shannon, centers on a family navigating its future as its matriarch lives with Alzheimer's disease. Chomko's grandmother died earlier this year after a 17-year battle with Alzheimer's: "I wanted my story and this film to be a specific portrait of a woman — and a family — living with the disease."

Take BOLD action against Alzheimer's disease
The Alzheimer's Association, the Alzheimer's Impact Movement (AIM), advocates and elected officials will be participating in a day-long effort in support of the BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer's Act on Tuesday, Nov. 13. BOLD is important bipartisan legislation that would strengthen existing public health strategies to address the Alzheimer's crisis. Please join the conversation by posting content on social media throughout the day using the hashtag #BOLDAlzheimersAct.

Eating may become a challenge as Alzheimer's progresses
Distractions, too many choices and changes in perception, taste and smell can make eating more difficult for a person living in the middle and late stages of Alzheimer's disease. As the person's cognitive function declines, he or she may become overwhelmed or have difficulty with utensils.
