Country music singer dedicates song to mother living with Alzheimer's
Country music singer Jay Allen wrote "Blank Stares" for his mother, Sherry Rich, after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Allen recently invited Rich onstage as he performed the song in tribute to her.

Former NFL executive living with Alzheimer's honored with Hall of Fame induction
Bobby Beathard received the ultimate recognition for his nearly four-decade NFL career as a scout and general manager with his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Aug. 5. Beathard is living with Alzheimer's disease, but the festivities and being among friends made him feel comfortable and in his element.

Genetics may play a role in Alzheimer's
A family history of Alzheimer's is not necessary for an individual to develop the disease. However, research shows that those who have a parent or sibling with Alzheimer's are more likely to develop the disease than those who do not have a first-degree relative with Alzheimer's.
