Alzheimer’s caregivers need to balance responsibilities and emotional strain
The Alzheimer's Association 2015 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures report states that nearly 60 percent of Alzheimer's and dementia caregivers rate the emotional stress of caregiving as high or very high, and 40 percent have been diagnosed with depression. It’s important to seek help in order to cope with the demands and responsibilities of caring for someone with the disease.

Care costs for Alzheimer’s and other dementias are a concern as the disease progresses. A number of financial resources may be available to help cover the costs of care for the person with Alzheimer's or another dementia. Some may apply now and others in the future.

Shutterfly shares the power of photos for people with Alzheimer’s disease
Shutterfly, an e-commerce company specializing in digital photo products and services, including photo books that can help you preserve and cherish your favorite memories, has joined in support of the Alzheimer’s Association with a $25,000 donation and will contribute $1 to the Association for every preselected “family memory” photo book sold through August. Additionally, this month, aided by the expertise of the Alzheimer’s Association, Shutterfly has launched a new resource page that offers “Top Photo Tips for Families Facing Alzheimer’s Disease,” research-guided suggestions on how to use photos with people living with Alzheimer’s and tips for putting together a meaningful photo book for people with the disease and their caregivers.
