A person with Alzheimer’s disease is more than their diagnosis
A few years after experiencing issues with memory and community, Tim Kaufman was diagnosed in 2012 with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), which is caused by progressive cell degeneration that affects the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. A former Alzheimer’s Association National Early-Stage Advisor, Kaufman, who is also HIV positive, says that his dementia doesn’t define who he is: "Get to know me. I am more than my diagnosis."

Music and art can enrich the lives of people with Alzheimer's disease
Music and art allow for self-expression and engagement, even after Alzheimer’s or another dementia has progressed. Studies have shown music may reduce agitation and improve behavioral issues that are common in the middle-stages of the disease, and art can provide an opportunity for self-expression.
