We invite persons living with memory loss, caregivers, and
health care professionals to join us for our 2014 Spring Conference "Dementia and the Family: Solutions and Joy for the Journey" on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Best Western Sterling Inn located in Sterling Heights.
The conference will explore the journey of dementia, with particular emphasis on family dynamics and practical solutions. We are proud to note that Dr. Peter Rabins, author of The 36-Hour Day, will be the keynote presenter on this topic. The conference will
also include a presentation from Dr. Shelly E. Weaverdyck on behavioral issues
in dementia care and practical intervention strategies for addressing these
issues. In addition, a Laughter Yoga specialist, Gail Robinson, will discuss laughter for
well-being, including its stress reduction and health-preserving properties.
We are presenting this conference in collaboration with the Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Center (MADC). Registration is free to
persons with memory loss and caregivers. Registration is $65 for professionals and $30 for students. Registration is requested by March 14, 2014.
We will be providing 4 Continuing Education Credits in Social Work and Nursing. A certificate of attendance will be available for all other professions.
