Caregiver University is a one-day, mini-conference dedicated to family and professional caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. Lunch and social work and nursing continuing education credits are included in registration.

Caregiver University includes a series of workshops dedicated to enhancing caregivers’ ability to provide quality care and support the individual they are caring for with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia, while maintaining their own health and wellness. The mini-conference will feature key-note speaker, Dr. Shirley Neitch, Professor of Medicine and Chief of Geriatrics and General Internal Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine at Marshall University/Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia.

Other workshops include: The Photo Album: A New Way of Understanding Alzheimer’s & Dementia; Legal & Financial Matters; Understanding Medicaid, Estate Recovery & Power of Attorney; Do You See What I am Saying: Communication Techniques; Get Moving: Exercise for the Caregiver & Person with Dementia.
