Alzheimer's Campaign Header - Iowa

National and internation spotlights will be on Iowa from now through February 1st, 2016 for the Iowa Caucuses. This gives us a unique opportunity to demonstrate how thousands are affected by Alzheimer’s in Iowa alone, while demanding action from presidential candidates. In doing so, we will bring Alzheimer’s disease to the forefront of the healthcare debate and make it a key issue in the 2016 road to the White House.

We have been growing a movement across Iowa with volunteers sharing their experiences with Alzheimer's and dementia with the presidential candidates, fellow Iowans, the media, and through circulating our petition.  Our goal was 10,000 petition signatures by November 1 to show presidential campaigns that Iowans want to hear their plans for tackling Alzheimer's.  We exceeded our goal with 11,844 signatures!

Over the past six months, our volunteers have spoken with each presidential candidate, most more than once, about the devastating effects of Alzheimer's disease.  Candidates and their campaign staff have taken notice of our work!  Commitments to increase research funding for Alzheimer's and dementia, as well as support for family caregivers are being mentioned by candidates in their stump speeches across the state.  Some of the campaigns have also invited our advocates to participate in roundtable discussions about the challenges of family caregiving.

Our work is not over yet!  We need YOU to join our efforts by:
