In 2014, my husband, Mark, and I spent the winter near my Aunt Marg and visited her nearly every day. She loved having us around. At that time she was writing everything she wanted to remember down in her pocket calendar which she called her "brains". Her memory was slowly deteriorating, but she remembered Mark and me long after that winter. In the summer of 2020, I called her to chat and she couldn't remember who I was. That fall, my mother who is her sister went up to visit her, and when she was told that her sister had come to visit her, she looked at Mom and said, "That's not my sister!" She has since been placed in a memory care facility and is approaching the end.

Several years ago, I was invited to buy some things from an avid seamstress and crafter named Wanda Mango of Sturgeon Bay, WI who had forgotten how to sew. Among other things, I picked up somewhere around 100 T-shirt pictures, and as I pondered what to do with them, I decided it would be good to make things that I could sell as a fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association in her honor. I am selling quilted table runners, placemats, wall hangings, and pillows in a line I call Wanda's Journey (Wanda was Jewel Peterson Ouradnik's sister). This is my fourth year doing this fundraiser and I still haven't run out of T-shirt pictures!
