Seo Tran's Extraordinary Journey
Seo Tran born in Binh Dinh, Vietnam February 3, 1932. As a young lady she would purchase fresh seafood to sell in the market. After marrying the love of her life at the age of sixteen, she dedicated every moment of her life to her family. She moved her family to America to escape the Vietnam War. Realizing it was not an easy undertaking with 10 children and pregnant at the time, she knew it was the only way to give her children a better life. Her children would later raise a total of 24 grandchildren that she loved dearly. She enjoyed holding annual Thanksgiving and Christmas parties because it was her husband’s favorite holidays.
When Seo was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s her family was completely devastated. To make matters worse her husband was diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer. We knew we wouldn’t have much time with the both of them. The best way to celebrate the remaining years of her husband was a beautiful wedding vow renewal at the Vineville United Methodist Church in Macon, Georgia. The church was important in instrumenting and helping helped the entire family get to America from a refugee camp in Malaysia.
Seo’s dementia started subtle with losing her keys and purse and eventually walking out of home and getting lost. She later suffered from deep depression; crying frequently. After the passing of her husband the symptoms progressed quickly. Seo Tran lost the fight to Alzheimer on August 2, 2020.
We need to fight Alzheimer because she missed her daughter’s wedding day and some of her grandchildren she missed the opportunity to get to know. This disease has impacted her family deeply and we need your help to help fight this disease. In honor of Seo Tran and those who suffer from this horrible disease, we hope to have a cure soon.
