In Loving Memory of Margine Craig

Margine Craig passed to her heavenly home on October 26, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born near Gore, VA on June 19, 1940, to Gertrude Whitlock Sirbaugh and Cletus Leon Sirbaugh. She attended grade school in Gore and graduated from James Wood High School in 1958. She met the love of her life, Jim, at Apple Blossom in 1958 and they were married April 3, 1960, celebrating 61 years of marriage this year.
Margine worked in various capacities for companies in the Winchester area, including the local Boise Cascade office, which later became American Woodmark, where she worked as an Executive Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer until 1984. She and Jim then moved to Hopewell when he was transferred with his job, and in 1991 they decided to become entrepreneurs, moving to Culpeper and opening Piedmont Laundries which they ran for 9 years before retiring. They were then able to travel, visiting 39 of the 50 states, Italy, the Canadian Rockies, Prince Edward Island, Mexico and a special 50th Anniversary Cruise to the Western Caribbean with their family in 2010.
Her faith and her family were the most important things to Margine and she devoted her life to both. She was most recently a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winchester where she served on several church committees, including the Baptistry committee and the Pulpit Search committee. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and 6 grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to spend time or celebrate with them and she would spend hours looking or making just the right gift or writing poems from Grandma for special occasions. We will always remember her as fun loving, always laughing and being silly, and full of love and affection for each of us. Even when Alzheimer's took her memory, when we visited her, her face would light up and she would smile, laugh and reach for out to hold our hands.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, James Craig, her daughter, Andrea Craig Hartnett (Michael) of Williamsburg, her son, David Craig (Christina) of Winchester and her grandchildren Hunter, Trevor and Sarah Hartnett, and Lydia, Harrison and Louisa Craig.
