Carolyn Freeman made her transition to her next chapter on June 6 in Lincoln, with loved ones by her side.
Carolyn was a generous, kind soul who loved nature, spiritual pursuits, music, and time with her loved ones. She was a proud mom of two and grandma to Emily & Miles Skrivanek and Marina Peterson.
She was the magic behind special Christmas days, kid birthday parties, and family meals and she loved giving back - whether as a Sunday School teacher at Christ Unity Church, a helper to homeless pets, or as a volunteer for the Lincoln Police Department. She enjoyed her career as a court reporter with General Reporting but her role as a committed, caring mom even more.
She enjoyed trips to special places like Texas, Colorado, Iowa’s Madison County and Florida, always learning new things, and delighting in life’s simple beauty outdoors or in meditation, and brought a grateful spirit to those around her even in her final days.
Carolyn is survived by her “sweetie,” Doug Dodge of Lincoln, her two kids and their loving families: daughter, Rebecca Peterson of Lakewood, CO (and her husband, Todd and daughter, Marina); and son, Nate Skrivanek of Lincoln (and his wife, Katie and daughter Emily and son Miles) as well as her “Texas cousins.”
Her family is thankful for the loving and caring environment provided by the Legacy team in Lincoln in her final years.
Carolyn’s words of wisdom to us as she made her transition: “Happiness is within” and “death is sad for those left behind but happy for the person that leaves”
We love you, Mom, and know you are with us in every beautiful sunrise, family gathering, and in the perfect song that comes on for a sing-along.
