My mom, Barb Larson, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2012, when she was just 67 years old. She passed away on December 12, 2021, at the age of 75 years 11 months, just 19 days shy of her 76th birthday on New Year's Eve.
She lived with this diagnosis for nearly 10 years, many of which were spent playing golf, traveling, spending time with family and especially her beloved grandchildren Hazel and Rainey.
My dad, her husband, cared for her much of this time, at home. But, over the course of the past 2+ years, it became evident she needed more care than could be provided at home.
Her final 19 months were spent in the care of the incredible Wealshire of Medina Alzheimer's and dementia care community. Dad visited her nearly every day, making sure on the days he didn't, someone else was there to see her.
My mom was fortunate to be surrounded by so much love and support, but she was and we were robbed of so much time, so many memories, so many years.
No one should have to endure what she and we did. I want to help raise money to continue researching and finding a cure or at least a viable treatment for this horrible disease. Will you help me?
