I'm participating in the 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer's in San Francisco on Saturday, October 19th in honor of my mother-in-law, Anita Soto, who lost her battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was first diagnosed in 1994 and kept herself together while she cared for her husband, Art, who suffered from dementia and eventually died of cancer in 2003. With no one to care for and living alone, she started declining. She soon needed 24-hour care, lost her memory and control of her bodily functions. She passed away September 24, 2012. I've experienced how devastating and expensive this disease is. If you have Alzheimer's disease, you will either die from it or with it. It's one of the only diseases for which there is no prevention, treatment, or cure.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease, and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining our movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts here.
