This Tribute Page honors Rose Mary Wahl born & residing in Hamburg, NY upon her death in May, 2022 at the age of 76. She and her husband resided in Rochester, NY for 14 years and returned to Hamburg in 1984. She is survived by her husband, Carl Wahl, sisters Lona Butler and Jean Bayuse and sister-in-law Carolyn Galen.
The last 8 years of life had been especially difficult. Progressive dementia with Alzheimer's placed Rose in institutional care for her last 2.5 years. As the disease progressed, she couldn't remember her own name, feed herself or walk to the bathroom. It was heart breaking for loved ones to witness Rosie's journey into darkness as she became detached from the world. Her sheepish laugh and the sparkle in her eyes were gone. She was lost to a horrendous disease that offers no mercy.
The Family thanks you for your donation to support the important mission of the Alzheimer's Association to include scientific research to combat this disease.
Public church service will be held at SS. Peter & Paul on Monday June 6 at 10am and available virtually by livestream. She is under the care of Demmerley Funeral Home in Hamburg.
