Nina Lou Cearlock, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away June 20, 2022, at Élan Westpointe in New Braunfels. She was 89 years old.

The former Miss Nina Baldwyn was born June 14, 1933, in Decatur, Illinois. She was the daughter of Imogene Baldwyn of Decatur. Nina was raised by her maternal grandparents Leonies and Pearl Pyles of Decatur. She was very fond of her grandfather.

Nina met her future husband Rex "Duane" Cearlock while both were in the high school band and members of the Decatur High School Class of 1951. After dating for several years, they married June 21, 1954, in Decatur.

Over the course of their marriage Duane and Nina lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Decatur, Illinois; Peoria, Illinois; Kingsport, Tennessee; West Chicago, Illinois; Arlington, Massachusetts; Hanover, Massachusetts; San Antonio, Texas; Springfield, Illinois; and New Braunfels, Texas. While in Springfield Nina worked as a legal secretary.

After retiring from their respective jobs in 1996, Duane and Nina returned to San Antonio to be near their daughters. They remained in San Antonio until moving to Élan Westpointe this past November.

Nina was a talented stenographer, cook, seamstress, and painter. She also taught painting classes out of her home for enjoyment. Many of her beautiful paintings can be found in her home and the homes of her daughters.

Duane and Nina have also enjoyed traveling to much of the continental United States, as well as to Germany, Italy, Alaska, Canada, and Mexico.

Nina is survived by her husband Duane of New Braunfels, daughter Sue Tilleman of Schertz, daughter Linda Hollibaugh (Brad) of Kingwood, daughter Julie Doti (Chris) of New Braunfels, granddaughter Pam Banks (Michael) of Cibolo, grandson Matthew Tilleman (Louisa) of Austin, grandson Bobby Hollibaugh (Dulcie Dahle) of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, grandson Phillip Hollibaugh (Luvia) of Kingwood, granddaughter Amanda Arriola (Robert) of New Braunfels, and 11 great-grandchildren. Nina was predeceased by her mother and grandparents.

A private family celebration of life, followed by interment of ashes at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nina's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
