Joan's Story
We started noticing changes in our Mom in 2016.  At first, we just noticed that she was forgetting things a little more than usual. We also noticed that her organizational skills started to fail.  For instance, she would struggle to prepare a meal that she had prepared Hundreds of times before. Then over time we also noticed that she little by little stopped doing her normal routines, she stopped going to the store with my dad, she lost interest in cooking, she stopped cleaning the house. In the fall of 2019, she informed my dad that she was ready to go back home to a home that they had not lived in more than 14 years.  She continued to decline over time and about 4 weeks ago the decline came faster.  The last 4 weeks prior to her passing she also became mostly immobile and bed ridden.  Mom passed away last Sunday, 02/21/2021 at about 4:47 pm she drew her last breath.  The end was bittersweet because we did not want her to suffer any longer but at the same time we were saddened by our great loss. Our sweet Mom maybe gone from this earth but she will never be forgotten and with our Faith we all know we will see her again one day!
Dementia/Alzheimer's is a terrible disease that affects so many people.  It is a hard way to go for the patients who suffer with this disease and it is terribly difficult and hard on the families having to deal with the care of their loved ones.  It is a full-time thankless job.  Please consider a donation today to help with research for a cure and to help families who struggle with caring for their loved ones.

Sincerely,

The Fielder Family
