In memory of Jantina van Riet. A great mother and grandmother, wonderful sister, dedicated wife, and a fun friend. She was a strong, caring person who lived her life without regrets. Sadly, she was an alzheimer's victim and we have lost this beautiful woman twice. Once when she started to decline in 2004 and then again when she passed away on April 3, 2014. Born in Groningen, Holland, she moved to Strathroy, Canada when she was 15. She was the oldest daughter in the Kolstein family of 10 kids. She married Jo van Riet and had three children (Deb, Michael and Tony). She was the grandmother of Jack, Michael, Ryker, Aerie, Luke and Charlie. She lived in Massena, NY, Bedford, Indiana, Morgan Hill, CA, and Worcester, MA. She loved to bowl with her friends, she loved to sew and knit and she absolutely loved babies. We will always remember your smile and laugh and how much you cared for your family and friends.

Anna Hendry Sat, Apr 05, 2014 Tina was my oldest sister, she was my second mother, she was my inspiration as a mother, wife, person, friend. I am a better person because of my time spent with her. As Alzheimers may be hereditary (there were Aunts on our mother's side as well that I am aware of) it is my worry and concern that others in my family or myself may be susceptible to this disease. Tina faced it bravely in public and with her family. Our hearts are definitely broken. We were robbed our our sister, her children were robbed of their mother and grandmother, long before April 3rd, 2014 when she finally passed. My heart goes out to all Alzheimer patients and their families who are currently dealing with its devastating affects, and it's ultimate end.
Deb van Riet Sat, Apr 05, 2014 I would not be who I am today without the love and support of my mom. While she never had the chance to complete high school, she wanted more for me and my brothers. When I was 18 and wanted to go to college and my parents couldn't afford to send me, she secretly took me to the local bank and countersigned my student loans (because my dad did not approve of carrying so much debt). She unlocked the door, removed the barriers for me and taught me to live beyond any limits anyone could ever place in my way. I am so grateful that she believed in me. I will miss her.
