It is with great sadness that we announce our beloved husband, father and friend, Jack F. Butler, passed away last week after a long battle with Alzheimer's related dementia. While we deeply mourn Jack's loss, we are determined to carry on his legacy by helping to fund work being done to cure Alzheimer's disease.
Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the U.S. and is the only one among the top 10 that cannot be prevented or cured. It is a devastatingly cruel disease that eats away at the brain while slowly robbing the person of their identity and dignity. Today there are 5.4 million Americans 65 and older who have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to triple by 2050 to over 18 million.
Jack was a man of science and we can think of no better way to honor him than to help expand on and improve the research that will one day end this vicious disease.
